Vase with Red Gladioli

This painting is striking because of the colour interview. In this painting Van Gogh uses a remarkable lot of colours. Van Gogh wrote to his sister, Wilhelmina about the colors:“Last year I painted hardly anything but flowers in order to get accustomed to using a scale of colours other than gray--namely pink, soft and vivid green, light blue, violet, yellow, orange, rich red.”
