1866 - 1868
On september 15 1866, Vincent van Gogh was registered in the Tilburg population register. Vincent moved to Tilburg because it was in this town where the only higher school in Brabant was situated.
In July 1867 he took part in the exams to the second class. In the second grade he left school early for unknown reasons.
On March 19, 1868, he left Tilburg to move in with his parents in Zundert. The school Vincent went to is still there. It was rebuilt in 1936 to a town hall.
There is not much information about Vincent’s period in Tilburg. There is one drawing that has been kept from his Tilburg time: 'Two sketches of a man leaning on his spade, signed VW van Gogh and dated 1867.
